Apple proves to be the smartphone leader in the US yet again, according to ComScore’s January report Apple currently owns 37.8% of smartphone shipments with a gain of 3.5% from previous quarter in the US followed by Samsung with 21.4%. Analysts are continuously being proved wrong by Apple with record breaking profits and record breaking sales, yet Apple’s stock is plummeting to an all time low lately.
Apple’s iOS also has seen an increase in its market share at the expense of Android for the first time since a while now. Apple’s iOS currently has a share of 37.8% in the US market with an increase of 3.5% and its rival, Google’s Android OS has a share of 52.3% with a decrease of 1.3%. Apart from iOS all other major smartphone OSes have witness a decrease in market share this quarter with the biggest looser being BlackBerry.
The only surprising thing about ComScore’s reports is that most major carriers in US reported more than 66% of smartphones being activated on their networks to be iPhones but ComScore report does not suggest the same.
